Etten-Leur Facility
The Flowserve operations at our Etten-Leur facility in the Netherlands is rich in what it offers to both Flowserve employees and our customers.
Approximately 600 associates work to power progress in this location, which has been around since 1959. For 64 years this team has worked to advance testing and engineering expertise for our Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMA) customers, providing a one-stop shop for aftermarket services. As the hub for all EMA Quick Response Centers (QRCs), it serves as a test facility and the Knowledge Center for pump seals and systems in those regions. Flowserve Etten-Leur is also a microcosm of diversity in motion, with 26 nationalities represented within its team. Much like the two villages of Etten and Leur came together to form one body, these associates similarly unify into a team that innovates with purpose and powers progress. The pride and history embodied in this 22,500 m2 facility and associate diversity is an ideal backdrop for Flowserve’s own 230 years of diversified industrial manufacturing expertise and sustainable solution development. Good things start and come together here in Etten-Leur – including Vincent van Gogh’s career!
Chesapeake Facility
Flowserve has been a part of the beautiful city of Chesapeake, Virginia for years.
Nestled in the heart of coastal Virginia, the 11th largest U.S. city is home to more miles of deepwater canals than any other city. The local Flowserve family has something important in common with its city: a rich history. While Flowserve’s current facility was built in 1994, our legacy company had a facility in the Indian River neighborhood many years prior. Now, more than 200 Flowserve associates work at our facility, manufacturing industrial pumps with core products that are shipped to 900+ customers from 51 different countries in a multitude of industries. A particular point of pride among our associates here is supplying critical pumps to Pfizer for their COVID-19 vaccine production. That pride extends into the Chesapeake community, where our associates take an active role not just in recreation, such as through the co-ed softball team, but also in volunteer activities coordinated through the local Engagement Committee. True to Flowserve’s values, our Chesapeake associates are dedicated to delivering value for Flowserve and driving impact to strengthen their Chesapeake community.
Santa Clara, Mexico Facility
Flowserve has been a part of the city of Santa Clara, Mexico for over 70 years and now boasts about 400 associates at the facility.
While the Santa Clara team is driven by its goal of producing quality Fluid pumps and after-market products for their customers and clients, they also recognize that key to reaching that goal is a safe, healthy, inclusive, and respectful culture – so much so, that the Flowserve Santa Clara family was recognized by the Mexican Social Prevision & Labor Secretariat (equivalent to the U.S. Secretary of State) as a “Responsible Family Company” (Empresa Familiarmente Responsible). The impressive recognition stems from Flowserve Santa Clara’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts and creating a supportive and safe environment that emphasizes a healthy work-life balance, as well as getting team members home safely at the end of each shift. That safety culture has led to 5 million hours of no lost-time accidents (LTAs). Santa Clara’s vibrant and healthy work culture is paying off with a number of notable projects, such as helping the Quick Response Center in São Caetano do Sul implement Brazil’s first high testing pressure enclosure, and continuing Flowserve’s involvement in restoring and protecting the environmentally sensitive Florida Everglades with customized pump manufacturing and installation critical to the effort. The Santa Clara family also finds time to play soccer (locally called “fútbol”) together and hosts a friendly soccer tournament for their associates each year.
Pasadena, Texas Facility
Pasadena, Texas lies just outside of Houston, less than 20 miles from the NASA Space Center.
The “Strawberry Capital of the South” is also home to more than 200 Flowserve associates who fall into one of our three facilities: pumps, valves, and seals. These QRCs (Quick Response Centers) repair and upgrade equipment quickly for customers for specific applications and rotating equipment designs. Some notable examples: Three Flowserve VCT vertical pumps in operation for more than two decades as part of an Everglades restoration project were recently reported to be in “excellent condition” after being brought to the Pasadena QRC for repair and maintenance; and, the QRC team helped with on-site troubleshooting and training after a customer reported a noise of unknown origin in a pump, walking the customer through training and a checklist with a QRC that is certified for refurbishments and repairs on that product line. While quality, timeliness, and safety are top priorities, the Pasadena Flowserve family knows that their other commitments are critical to creating a welcoming culture, such as the facility’s DE&I initiatives and celebrations that reflect that inclusivity, including a Lunar New Year celebration featuring one of their machinists who leads a youth performance troupe from a Buddhist temple. Associates also engage with local high schools for career opportunities and sponsor Little League teams in their area.

Kanagavel Mathivanan
Etten-Leur, Netherlands
For Kanagavel, stepping into his role at Flowserve was the realization of his goal to build a career in the mechanical design field. Bringing innovation to life from concept to final product motivates Kanagavel to be a part of the Flowserve team and deliver beyond our customers’ expectations each day.
Through the years, Kanagavel has built his product knowledge to apply across several different industries. Finding ways to apply his expertise to develop new solutions fuels his passion for the work that he leads.
“One of the most significant projects I have led consisted of upgrading 12 pumps from single mechanical-seal to dual-seal to meet environmental guidelines. I was the Project Engineer on the team and partnered closely with Design Engineers and Production. The project was completed on time and resulted in one of the proudest moments in my career.”

Tom Wheeler
Chesapeake, Virginia
In the 10 years Adjan has been a part of the Flowserve team, he has found excitement and motivation in learning to work across several industries from oil and gas to renewables and water. Through Flowserve’s extensive training opportunities, Adjan has been able to sharpen his skills and grow in his role.
“My role is focused on general assembly activities like balancing, hydrotesting and torqueing equipment. We have an effective team at our site and our work changes from day to day. In fact, many colleagues have helped shape my career. One of my proudest accomplishments was working as a team to turn around a customer request in a matter of days."

Alan Garcia Pontones
Santa Clara, Mexico
Meet Alan Garcia, our latest #EmployeeSpotlight. He joined as a result of our college recruitment program in Mexico, starting in 2013 as a Manufacturing Engineer. Since then, he has worked diligently in a variety of positions to reach his current role, Quality Assurance Manager, in which he oversees the region’s 10 facilities.
Alan says the favorite part of his work is having the opportunity to “inspire the associates I work with and help them achieve things that may have seemed impossible before.” During an average week, he visits two sites every day so he is physically in all the region’s sites to support their projects and translate the division strategy into tailored, tactical plans.
Alan is inspired by the chance to be part of building Flowserve’s future and creating those “extraordinary solutions to make the world better for everyone.” He takes ownership of the quality of work his region provides and says he always encourages his team members to feel proud of what they do. Outside of work, Alan enjoys camping, photography, and road tripping to Mexico’s many “Magical Towns.”

Wayne Blair
Pasadena, TX, USA
Although Wayne Blair is an expert machinist and welder, leading global teams toward solutions for our customers is where he really excels. Wayne’s leadership journey began in the U.S. Navy where he spent 11 years building the skills that have defined his career today. When he joined Flowserve, he found an opportunity to use his military values to guide impactful, global projects.
“My military experience gave me a real passion for building leaders and guiding them to become excellent problem solvers. I love the world of machinery and to work for a company that recognizes the importance of that work, that is the best inspiration. I enjoy the dynamic nature of managing 10 Quick Response Centers across North America. Everyday there are multiple solutions to be explored at each site and supporting my teams in delivering for our customers is rewarding.”
Before Flowserve, Wayne started and managed several machine shops. In the almost 5 years he’s served at Flowserve, he has continued to build on his experience by taking on four different roles, learning and growing from each role. This accomplishment is something he is very proud of.
“My favorite thing about working for Flowserve is that I get to network with a global team. I have met people all over the world who I have been able to call on for their expertise and support when needed. I love the team spirit you feel no matter which part of the world you are working with.”

Sarah Purawic
IGNITE, USA
From a young age, Sarah Purawic had a knack for creativity and critical thinking to solve problems. “Math and science were always my favorite subjects. I would ask for 101 Science Experiment books and spend all day in the kitchen trying to carry them out.” With her father being a mechanical engineer, Sarah knew she wanted to enter the family business.
When she began exploring opportunities to jumpstart her career after graduating from Penn State in 2019, Sarah was intrigued by Flowserve’s early career development program, IGNITE. IGNITE offers a robust curriculum, three-year rotational program in different regions across different business functions and diverse project assignments. Sarah says she was not only attracted to the opportunity to fast track her career, but also to Flowserve’s values as an organization.
Sarah has worked on several projects ranging from material, quality and process code standardization to her most recent, an initiative focusing on cross-alignment and change management across Flowserve for several new enterprise tools. “As part of a change campaign, I’ve assembled a team to create videos explaining the needs and benefits of the new systems in a fun, creative way. The film is called Enterprise Endeavor, a superhero movie where Enterprise Mindset, the hero, needs to introduce new tools and standards to save Flowserve from Misalignment.” Sarah’s creative work on this specific project is not only directly impacting Flowserve’s strategy, but also allowing Sarah to utilize her skillset and exercise her passions in a professional setting.
Now in her third year of IGNITE, Sarah feels that her diverse experiences and projects have provided her “the best understanding of Flowserve in three years and the opportunity to develop [herself] as a team member and leader.” We are proud to offer development opportunities to young leaders at Flowserve, just like Sarah.
