Role Summary:

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible to deliver the order to the customer on time, on budget and with the utmost quality. The duties include but are not limited to contract review, clarification, communication, and execution in accordance with agreed upon requirements. The Senior Project Engineer assumes complete responsibility for project orders from award of order through shipment and final documentation. The Senior Project Engineer must work with the customer to define their requirements and then must satisfy them by meticulously planning, tracking, and verifying the execution of the numerous tasks required. The incumbent should be “Customer Centric” and demonstrate a “Can Do” approach to gain customer confidence.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Review assigned orders/contracts to ensure that requirements are adequately defined and documented, identify any differences between the order and the FLS tender, verify that FLS has the capability to meet contract scope, performance and delivery requirements.

  • Accountable for the successful achievement of the project contractual specification and schedules.

  • Assures that the product meets the customers’ quality requirements & assures that requirements are met on all purchased material.

  • Document, communicate to the sales channel and customer, and facilitate resolution of discrepancies between customer order, FLS tender, and FLS capabilities.

  • Plan and facilitate meetings as appropriate to accomplish such resolution.

  • First line of communication on all technical issues which need Sales or customer input. Will interface with departments within FLS operations and will represent the project to the customer and to management.

  • Communicate contractual requirements and changes within FLS in accordance with applicable procedures.

  • Coordinating with other FLS BU’s to ensure customer is updated on the latest updates & meet their expectations related to OTD.

  • Communicate with customers (internal, external, end user, OEM) on all project related matters effectively, including general and basic technical matters.

  • Responsible for complete, thorough and accurate information such as bills of material, routing, schedules, material specifications, engineering documentation, buy-out specifications, engineering changes, and supply of all documentation required.

  • Assures the timely release of engineering documentation to meet schedules- both initial submittals and the finalization of all outstanding documentation.

  • Responsible to help improve order’s payment by submitting all documentation required to customer.

  • Document management with OEM’s to receive timely customer approval

  • Maintain up-to-date status of assigned contracts, communicate progress to customers, and facilitate elimination of any barriers to on-time shipment.

  • Takes ownership and accepts responsibility for the successful conclusion of the order.

  • Responds with a sense of urgency & must take proactive, sometimes innovative steps to avoid problems and satisfy the customer.

  • Handles all change order activity & helps negotiate contract extensions and customer change orders as required.

  • Accountable for ensuring that Sales and/or the customer understands any change orders’ impact on cost or on-time delivery.

  • Coordinate customer/3rd party inspection/witness visits/ in process inspections to FLS and/or sub-suppliers.

  • Consult with engineering, sales channels, product management, planning, purchasing, accounting, and manufacturing as necessary to fulfill above responsibility.

  • Assures compliance with all Engineering Standards and ISO 9001 procedures.

  • Utilize FLS tools & systems for job management (Oracle, SAP, NEXUS, OEPDMS….)

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze engineering specifications & drawings

  • Understanding of engineering documentation & drafting

  • Ability to perform calculations using predefined engineering equations

  • Able to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of employees, customers, and business groups globally

  • Collaborative team player and self-starter capable of working under minimal supervision

  • BS or BA Degree in relevant field and 5-7 years relevant experience

Requirements :

  • Candidates who can write, read & speak Japanese

  • Candidates who have experience working in Japan

  • Candidates with Turbomachinery experience
