Role summary:
The Sox Compliance Manager role is instrumental in driving efficiency and effectiveness in SOX controls and processes in the BSC to ensure that we operate in line with the Company’s Accounting Policies and the SOX requirements. You will be responsible leading the SOX Team with 3 colleagues. Responsibilities:
People management
Manager of people leaders and role model to them. Represent Flowserve values in daily behaviors, activities, and decisions. Provide support, direction and encouragement to employees in leadership positions. Help them continue to develop their leadership skills for the benefit of the team and company.
Empower people leaders to make decisions and complete projects by giving them autonomy.
Lead the team, manage challenging situations and conflicts while ensuring the team's processes and tasks are carried out efficiently. Monitor and support resource needs based on planning and budget
Drive recruitment and selection processes and employer branding initiatives by ensuring active participation of the team
Develop an environment and culture that supports the attraction and retention of quality talent. Engage and reward top talent.
Create clear ownership and understanding of the processes and metrics necessary to continue financial activity including KPIs and other business metrics
Manage talent process for own team: Performance management, talent assessment, succession planning and development plan creation and follow-up
Mentoring and continuous coaching for direct reports and team members
Support the creation of appropriate backup structure and cross-training to ensure continuous service levels
Service and Process
Support all Operations & Maintenance processes
Ensure all necessary finance services are available and that workloads are run in line with required service levels, and delegate tasks to members of the team and guide them where necessary.
Proactively anticipate and prevent issues and barriers, acting swiftly to engage appropriate resources, communicate/escalate.
Manage finances and budgets.
Manage cost by improving productivity without sacrificing customer satisfaction.
Assess customer feedback and use creativity to establish, improve, and refine services.
Build a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement
Manage transitions.
Ensure appropriate and up-to-date process documentation and knowledge management within own department.
Have an understanding of partner functions’ processes and support own operation team in case of process clarification, identifying interconnections and improvement opportunities
Quality and legal compliance and controls
Ensure compliance with FLS policies, US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as defined by FLS, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and local statutory laws and regulations and that business is conducted within FLS ethical code of business conduct.
End to end coordination and development of Finance Compliance & Controls as required for own function and in close cooperation with the individual sites serviced by the Center to prevent or mitigate violations of legal guidelines and Accounting Policies
Evaluate the efficiency of controls regularly and improve them continuously.
Maintain and improve own function’s governance structure and protocols, with relevant metrics and performance measurement systems
Make sure Risk & Compliance initiatives are completed and implemented for own area of responsibility
Demonstrate thorough understanding of financial controls for local and SOX requirements.
Provide advice as needed and ensure governance and internal control standards are embedded in the end-to-end processes and operations.
Report activities of the team to stakeholders through regular and ad hoc reporting
Responsible to ensure the integrity of the financial information provided for the stakeholders and for internal/external auditors
Meet business needs as they relate to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Quality, Integrity.
Revise Desktop Procedures, Month-end SOX reports, etc. during transitions/periodically to identify and then remediate hidden risks, non-conformity, or inefficiency issues.
Coordinate Internal Audit and SOX Audit activity for own area of responsibility and ensure timely remediation of any deficiencies.
Proactively drive and promote compliance culture into the BSC organization.
Monitor appropriate accesses for all team members in line with SOX, other legal and Flowserve process requirements
Stakeholder management
Strategically partner with stakeholders to represent controllership, assist in improving company-wide processes related to managed area of responsibility.
Build partnerships at local, regional, and global level that could support initiatives, ensuring compliance with the department’s and firm’s requirements.
Identify customer needs and improve the company's services to maintain and elevate customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree is preferred, Master's Degree is a plus
Demonstration of Flowserve Values, Behaviors and People Leader Expectations in daily work
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop people
Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills in English
Confident user of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to establish and maintain productive and collaborative work relationships with stakeholders
Ability to plan, lead, and implement changes as necessary
Continuous improvement mindset (LEAN Six Sigma is an advantage)
Strategic thinking and planning
Understand the interface of finance processes and technologies
Deep understanding of controls in a BSC environment
