Quality Inspector needed to perform detailed inspections to tight tolerances in a manufacturing environment as part of the quality control team. Responsibilities & Requirements:
Knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques and tools including micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gages, dial indicators, scales, profilometer, hardness testing, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines) in a manufacturing environment.
Inspect mechanical parts and assemblies.
Retrieval of drawings from various drawing/drafting systems.
Respond to investigate, track and close customer complaints, trouble reports and warranty claims. Including the issuing and tracking of Return Material Authorizations.
Processing of: data into the Customer Service NCR database, Supplier Returns and Inventory rejection, Returns Material Inspections and Dispositions, Receiving Rejections, Delivery Receipts, Issuing Warranty/Repair Purchase Orders, Credits, Repairs
Review and approve material certifications for chemical and physical properties and inspect documents required on purchased materials.
Complete required reports and quality documents
Function as part of a quality team and interface with inspectors on the team
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Work overtime when required. Possible extended workdays, weekends and holidays.
Possible travel (5%) if required.
High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years machine shop, quality control, or related experience (i.e. trade school, apprentice school training, etc.)
Capable of calculating basic mathematical functions including computation of rate, ratio, and percent.
Capable of reading and interpreting mechanical machining and assembly drawings.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret bills of materials, parts lists, and material specifications.
Ability to review, analyze and disposition non-conforming material
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with and good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
High level of written, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift 40 pounds using proper lifting equipment and perform duties while standing for extended periods of time.
Performing source inspections and/or audits at suppliers.
Other duties as directed by the inspection team lead or the Manager of Quality Assurance
Preferred Experience / Skills:
Forklift experience is a plus
Rotating equipment product/process knowledge desired.
Knowledge of Oracle ERP systems and ISO standards is a plus.
