The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing assigned Nuclear and Commercial (Oil and Gas) related projects, consistent with the strategy of the Vernon Business Operation and within the resource capability of the company.
The incumbent shall advise leadership and/or business executives about the status and resource loading of assigned projects. He/she will plan, direct, and ensure the successful outcome of projects utilizing the assigned project teams, as well as standards, practices, and toolsets established within the Vernon Business Operation and PMO. The position shall support the efforts of the Vernon Business Operation in identifying, evaluating and developing project management methods and procedures that are efficient, effective and meet good business practice, while maintaining compliance with Flowserve policies regarding the execution and oversight of projects.
Responsibilities & Requirements:
Develops roles and responsibilities, seeks out stakeholders and obtains their support for the project, negotiates for resources and motivates team members, and provides input to annual performance. Communicates team objectives to ensure buy-in and understanding.
Proficient in compiling, analyzing and presenting project progress to all levels of management on both an ad hoc and routine basis.
Effectively communicates complex issues clearly and succinctly. Executes, manages, coaches and mentors others in the triple constraint, and successfully articulates and manages complex trade-offs.
Able to effectively and pro-actively define, track, and negotiate expense and capital budgets and revisions in response to project performance. Applies tools and techniques and anticipates changes based on lessons learned. Demonstrated ability to identify project risk and develop risk register with accompanying mitigation plans. Coaches and mentors others in Risk Management methodology.
Develops and drives the appropriate contingency plans during all phases of projects. Extensive working knowledge of the quality principles, tools and systems.
Demonstrated ability in applying tools and techniques to project execution for improved project performance.
Knowledge of fundamentals of project management.
Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Excellent estimating, scheduling & budgeting skills.
Ability to independently identify and resolve project issues.
Proven experience in influencing and leading, risk management, and change management
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering desired, or Industrial or Engineering degree is required.
Industry: 5+ years in a related equipment manufacturing industry is required: centrifugal pumps, packaged systems, skid mounted machinery, rotary equipment, etc.
Project Management experience: 10+ years.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
Working knowledge of the Flowserve Corporation product line is a plus.
Experience in the Nuclear industry and API standards is a plus.
Experience with 10CFR50AppB and ASME Code QA programs a plus.
Experience with mechanical pumps a plus.
Experience reading prints and interpreting dimensional and visual inspections a plus.
Certifications: PMP preferred
Desired Green Belt preferred
