Our Taneytown, MD, USA Pump Manufacturing facility provide the capability for engineering, design, customer service, casting, machining, assembly and testing for a diverse product portfolio, which serves the agricultural, water resource, general industry, and chemical markets. The entire project lifecycle is experienced all under the same roof.
Role Summary
The primary function of this position is to provide support of product design changes related to electrical wiring and cables in submersible motors. As well as assess the performance impacts of existing design motors when manufacturing deviations arise. Potentially design of new submersible motors along with other Electrical support required during orders execution.
The pay range for this position is $96,478 - $144,835 USD Annual
Responsibilities
Technical coordination with Project Management and Supply Chain to drive On-Time-Performance (OTP)
Reduce the cost of poor quality with our internal and external customers on Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) orders.
Provide technical support to departmental team members as well as to team members across the order process chain.
Mitigate issues related to new equipment, sometimes within a very tight timeline, for Operations.
Partner closely with an international group of team members as well as work autonomously at times to support the identified products.
Principal Accountabilities
The successfull candidate will:
Be responsible for design changes related to electrical wiring and cables in submersible motors.
Evaluate the performance impacts of existing design motors when manufacturing deviations arise.
Complete changes on existing designs to follow EU regulations (EU Directives 2014/30/EU, 2014/35/EU, ATEX), product standards.
Evaluate and complete changes on existing designs, i.e: Usage of higher Voltage, usage of VFD, electrical heating from harmonics, motor speeds with electric frequency variators, motor laminations.
Validate motor procedures (winding spec, testing specs, etc)
Work as a senior Electrical Engineer and support product design
Guarantee the adequate performance of the electrical equipment in the field throughout the proper application and design engineering processes with motors
Work with our internal customers on OEM (Unit) orders.
Act as a single point of contact to provide technical support to other team members, and other departments, on issues related to new equipment in a tight response timeframe.
Embrace and drive a CIP environment throughout Flowserve.
Ensuring safety practices for all of the above tasks and accountabilities is the first and last duty of the engineer.
Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical or Electronics related field with demonstrated knowledge and experience with the most of all the below requirement.
The working/demonstrated plus theoretical understanding of some of the following at a minimum:
Submersible liquid cooled and above ground AC induction Motors (preferable or positively valued)
VFDS, soft starts – regular types to submersible motors (such as SME/Vansan/Allen Bradley/Toshiba). (preferable or positively valued)
Low to Medium (up to 5KV equipment scope and experience)
NEMA and NEC type motors/standards familiarity and working knowledge (preferable or positively valued)
Electrical parameters measurements, measuring equipment, data acquisition and analysis of all types
IEEE/Local/International Test standards and practices including CSA – Knowledge/Understanding and if any practical experience ((preferable or positively valued))
Knowledge on EU directives like ATEX, electromagnetic compatibility, pressure equipment directives ((preferable or positively valued)
Theory/Understanding and some any highly preferred practical knowledge or demonstrated experience in induction motor design/winding/calculations of motor characteristics of such as losses, efficiency, power factor, winding technology, stator and rotor material/laminations/single and 3 phase winding/phases/measurement and handling.
Field system testing of inputs/outputs of typical Induction Motors
Practical knowledge with electromechanical systems and failure mode/root cause analysis
Excellent organizational skills with close attention to details with safety protocols and principles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for within Flowserve and outside customers/ field personnel
Excellent computer skills- typical and any special related to Electrical Design and trouble hooting /analysis
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team orientated, and Continuous Improvement environment and with the field personnel for effective problem solving and tasks executed in a timely manner.
Readiness to travel (internationally) in a percentage of 30% approx.
