Role Summary:

Leading a team of Solutions Engineers, the Supervisor will be part of the Engineering team supporting our aftermarket sales and services division across assigned countries in APAC. This position lead engineering technical support in providing conversion and optimization solutions to our customers based on their installed equipment.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  1. Effectively lead and manage a team of Solutions Engineers in daily activities in relation to:

a. Understand the nature and purpose of the pump upgrade and evaluate the customer operational requirements in accordance with design specifications and standards.

b. Interact with Central Engineering in other regions and Product Engineering in respective Business Units to develop the scope of work to upgrade customer pumping equipment and assure that the proposed solution meets technical and performance requirements of customers.

c. Prepare technical proposals for pump upgrades and/or repairs and promote Services & Solutions Engineering expertise and capabilities.

d. Coordinate with Flowserve Business Units and/or external providers involved locally or overseas for on-time submission of proposals.

e. Review customer orders to ensure they are acceptable relative to the technical content of the offer and meet customer expectations.

f. Understand and implement Flowserve corporate policy to ensure that both customer and company goals can be met.

g. Work with End-User Sales Teams on commercial strategy while ensuring recommendations must be feasible and based on sound engineering practices.

h. Support the Project Engineering Team, ensure a smooth transition to order fulfilment of the successful upgrade order booked by concise hand-over and attending kick-off meetings.

i. Develop personal skills through regular attendance to a selection of technical training.

  1. Review Flowserve global policies and local operation model to develop and continue to optimize Internal order engineering work instructions/tools and procedures.

  2. Review and evaluate customer specifications related to technical acceptability and supervise and mentor engineering team members in document preparation and communication. Key points of contacts to solve problems, provide insight or advice in a situation.

  3. Closely work internally to understand the customer requirements and provide technical clarification to various internal departments viz. Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Production etc.

  4. Focus on customer satisfaction, technical support other function departments and collaborate with other teams.

  5. Define performance targets for department and set individual targets and identify gaps between current performance and what is necessary to be successful and meet the performance expectations in the role.

  6. Develop engineering talent through recruiting, development and programs aimed at engagement and talent development.

Role Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar fields.

  2. At least 3 years of team management experience of an engineering function at a manufacturing site.

  3. At least 6 years of working experience in related engineering function.

  4. Experienced in working with pumps or related rotating mechanical equipment within a role involving customer interaction.

  5. Candidates should have experience and be comfortable handling presentations of solutions to customers.

  6. Team player with strong initiative.

  7. Strong interpersonal skill and continuous improvement sense.
