The Applications Engineer position in Raleigh is a cross-functional support position for Quality Assurance, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Inside and Outside Sales and Marketing, Product Engineering and Field Service. The Application Engineer will own or coordinate activities across all departments of the plant, including Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) writing, Quality Inspection Test Plan (ITP) creation, Bill of Material creation and verification, quotation creation, and drawing approval. The Application Engineer will become a technical expert in selection and sizing valve and actuator designs for a diverse range of applications. A working knowledge of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and Welding application is helpful. Knowledge of ASME BPVC and ISO 9001 is a plus.
BS degree in Engineering from an accredited university; preferred mechanical engineering,Minimum 3-4 years of relevant applicable experience will be considered.

Familiarity with valves and/or commercial nuclear industry preferred

Must acquire sufficient knowledge of shop processing, material traceability, welding and NDE processes.
Review customer design specifications in order to select valves, actuators, and associated components to best meet the customer’s requirements.
Utilize design standards, technical expertise, and collaboration with other departments to develop Bills of Materials, QAP’s, ITP’s that define the parts that come together to build the product.
Validate availability and manufacturability of proposed application solutions.
Conduct work in compliance with industry codes and standards and Flowserve processes.
Actively prioritize and execute tasks to support customer expectations
Support Continuous Improvement activities on both business processes and valve application design
Preferred Experience / Skills:
Relevant industrial application and quality engineering experience.
Working familiarity with the ASME B&PV Code, ISO 9000, ASME B16.34, or B31.1.
Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 2 to 4 years; already have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
