Job Summary
The Quality Inspector partners with manufacturing operations to drive site-level quality improvement. This hands on roles supports our goal of Zero injuries, Zero defects, and Zero impact to the environment by working with our operations to teams to prevent scrap, rework, and other Cost Of Poor Quality (COPQ) at the source. As such, this position is the champion for our quality program at the site level. The Quality Inspector must have a passion for continuous improvement and be capable of collaboration with multiple departments documenting non-conformance to prevent quality events. The Quality Inspector must be prepared to escalate concerns to the appropriate party and always promote a culture of quality in a professional manner. The Quality Inspector will report directly to the QRC Manager but will work closely and in partnership with the Regional Quality Engineer. This position is located in the Pasadena facility.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Participate in daily start of shift meetings and accountability meetings by providing quality topics
Drive our Quality program and ensure non-conformances are recorded within the quality management system, Quality Quest
Use Quality Quest to identify focus areas
Support review and training of appliable policies with proper documentation
Guide production teams to properly disposition parts as good for use, needs repair, or scrap
Work side by side with direct manufacturing teams to ensure adherence to proper industry standard assembly and machining practices
Review repair routers to ensure adherence to router processes
Ensure each router is signed off as it moves through production
Create Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) in partnership with Regional Quality Engineers, Project Engineers, and Project Coordinators/Managers
Lead continuous improvement efforts for safety and quality projects
Assist in developing and maintaining documentation KPI’s reporting.
Professional presence, especially when dealing with employees and visitors
Maintain our equipment calibration program
Support facility operation and maintenance checks
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years in machining, assembly/repair, quality control, or related field working with a quality management system within a Manufacturing environment.
Technical / Trade school or Associate degree (A. A.) is preferred, but not required
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, to include geometric dimensioning and tolerances
Able to operate in a matrix environment and lead without direct authority
Understanding of material planning and shop floor scheduling
Strong drive to make things happen and a strong “can do” attitude
Communicate and collaborate in a sometimes-stressful environment
Experience in fields related to rotating equipment repair or reliability is a plus
Skills and Capabilities
Self-motivated with an ability to work independently and make decisions on the spot
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with various audiences at the site level. Capacity to effectively share information and respond to questions from supervisors and managers at multiple levels of the organization
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Demonstrated experience reviewing, interpreting, and communicating technical specifications
Capable of quickly establishing credibility, influencing constituencies, and persuading professionals at all levels.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced and changing work environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, in addition to interpersonal, teamwork skills
Strong drive to make things happen and a strong “can do” attitude
Demonstrate a desire for personal growth and career development
Knowledge of ISO standards
