Role Summary:

The Engineering Manager will manage people, resources, and projects assigned to the Production Engineering Department, documentation and data reproduction systems, data transmittal process, bill of material generation process, and engineering standards and processes in a timely and efficient manner staying within established budget. Coordinate the design, analysis, and technical support of all products being sold and manufactured. Assure that projects are completed in a timely and accurate manner and that the end product meets the customer requirements and applicable codes and regulations of design, quality and safety.

  • Manage and drive continual improvement of the Engineering team. Monitor and report key performance indicators and establish action plans to maintain or improve performance and be a part of a global organization.

  • Guarantee on time reporting to global engineering organization for all metrics.

  • Utilizes experience and knowledge of valves, actuation, and controls to manage the timely execution of development initiatives and production projects.

  • Oversee the development and training of engineers/drafters and foster an open learning environment. Ensure the engineering team is well equipped with SMEs for all aspects of product design including mechanical, electrical, digital, and industrial network protocol design.

  • Oversee compliance and safety trainings are on time performed by all team members

  • Maintain and grow the work with the MM Nagar, and GTEC team. Build and develop the relationships with GTEC and MM Nagar. Meet the forecasted levels of work that is given to GTEC and MM Nagar to meet utilization goals each month.

  • Support the machine shop, production, supply chain, quality, and assembly and test benches in the operations.

  • Manage R&D projects for new products or improvements to existing products.

  • Develop strong internal and external customer support through technology focus and adopt the latest in new technology and research when applicable.

  • Make effective use of capacity planning tools (RCCP and Engineering OTD) and business forecasts to identify and address current and anticipated gaps in the engineering capacity for all projects. Balance the efforts to optimize the usage of low-cost engineering resources as appropriate to augment engineering capacity.

  • Manage root cause analysis of equipment failures and technical customer issues.

  • Continually develop and implement improvements within the team to improve operational performance aligned with corporate objectives and Customer requirements. Improve working processes, procedures, and define possible areas for standardization.

  • Participate in improvement project activities such as Lean manufacturing, lean practitioner, and other tools; to continually improve the operational performance and cost position for the team and product lines.

  • Develop and implement personnel development plans including mid and year-end PMPs, career profiles, and succession planning for all personnel. Identify training needs and work to make training available to staff.

  • Drive talent acquisition with the support of Flowserve HR function

  • Ensure products are safe and compliant with the appropriate legal requirements (e.g., FM, CSA, ATEX, PED, API, Pressure Equipment Directive, ATEX, etc.) Ensure proper due diligence in processes and documentation to support that compliance.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

Education & Work Experiences

  • Mechanical Engineering degree plus 10+ years of valve, actuation, control and equipment design, manufacturing and assembly experience.

  • Technical team management experience (5+ years.)

Skills & Compentencies

  • Fluent in English. Other language skills are beneficial

  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15% of the time.

  • Ability to produce professional engineering reports and presentations. They must also be able to deliver these presentations to management teams, industry committees, employees and customers.

Transversal Skills

  • Must be self-starting and have motivational skills and a high sense of urgency to plan and execute to production and development schedules.

  • Possession of team building skills essential, as is the ability to motivate the team.

  • Interpersonal skills are critical for excellent communication with internal and external customers.
