Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer with a background in electric motor manufacturing to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing processes for the production of electric motors.

This position is primarily responsible for establishing and supporting the development of in-house electric AC motor manufacturing capability used in the Flowserve electric actuator product lines.

This position will serve as a global subject matter expert for electric motor manufacturing and will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering Organization.

He/she is expected to have daily interface with the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Service, Quality Assurance, and Engineering departments around the globe.

The candidate works on a variety of assignments including, manufacturing engineering and design and development, process improvements, fixture/tooling design.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for the production of electric motors

  • Develop and maintain process documentation and procedures

  • Be the lead global technical expert for electric motors: design, testing, validation, qualification of suppliers

  • Optimize production processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs

  • Evaluate / validate the motor performance against needed requirements

  • Work closely with design engineering, certification engineering, and quality to ensure that products are manufactured to specifications

  • Analyze and troubleshoot production issues, and implement solutions to improve quality and productivity

  • Provide training and support to production personnel

  • Provide technical support (related to electric motors design) to other departments

  • Lead the development and the support of new motor production facilities / suppliers.

  • Support the development of new and innovative motor designs for electric actuators.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Electric Motor Manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of industrial motor operation and design (3-phase a/c, 1-phase, DC)

  • Experience with industrial electrical controls (Relays, Contactors, Overloads)

  • Proficiency with 3-D CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in process improvement and documentation

  • Ability to coordinate work efforts with global Sales, Service Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams.

  • Travel requirements: 10% domestic and international as needed.

Preferred:

  • Electronics design; layout, schematics, simulation (OrCAD, Altium, etc )

  • Experience working with printed circuit board assembly contractors.

  • Experience working with electro-mechanical industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of hazardous location agency certifications (FM, CSA, UL, ATEX)

  • Experience with component and/or assembly testing and evaluation

  • Ability to multi-task, self-starter, establish priorities under high level guidance.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written)

  • Experience with Six Sigma or lean manufacturing

  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
