At Flowserve, we strive to maintain a lean, world class machining operation. We are looking for a Principal level Manufacturing Engineer who can implement manufacturing processes across multiple cells, executes changes to improve products and reduce costs, and review manufacturability of existing and future products. The ideal candidate will drive strategic technology and applications strategy by playing a key role in creating and executing efficient and effective asset utilization, 6 Sigma Quality levels, facility flow in manufacturing facilities that encode world class safety, ergonomics, and optimized automation capability. This role requires critical thinking, personal insight, and high level of cross-functional collaboration to establish objectives and achieve key milestones.

The successful candidate will have a hands-on knowledge of and technical expertise with machining operations and maintenance strategy, tooling specification and development, ferrous/nonferrous material characteristics, CNC programming optimization, Lean/6 Sigma problem solving techniques and applied Lean principles.
Responsibilities
Diagnoses improvement opportunities, develops and delivers optimum manufacturing methods and capability to the product portfolio
Accountable for planning and delivering multiple, often complex, assignments with minimal guidance; and then able to independently evaluate, select, and apply systems engineering, innovative thinking, Lean and 6 Sigma methodology in delivering the required outcome on time, on cost and at the committed level of quality.
Develops green and brown field manufacturing systems designs, and product transition planning
Leads the execution of product transfers in and out of facilities, including in/outsourcing activities
Coordinate machining applications projects with Platform Leadership, Quality, Supply Chain, HSE, and Engineering
Acts as a manufacturing subject matter expert (SME) in support of Design to Value and Design for Manufacturability on projects related to cost optimization, process improvement, and new product development
Develops manufacturing technology roadmap and prioritizes new technology investment across all Platforms
Develops manufacturing maturity model and guides sites through the implementation process
Drives best practices in manufacturing within the global standards
Aligns manufacturing technology strategies with all operations functions
Facilitates and drives in the selection of machinery and methods per global standards
Supports product development activities regarding new product and machining process
Leads Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) projects in machining disciplines
Coordinating/leveraging remote CNC programming support as well as on site
Position Requirements:
Bachelors engineering degree (or equivalent) engineering (preferably Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering major)
10+ years relevant experience within a manufacturing environment, including hands-on experience of machining operations, automation systems maintenance, and tooling applications
Experience in developing Lean factory workflows and layouts
Experience with Multi-machinery manufacturing methods and materials technology
Understanding of Machine/Process Capability as well as the application of Statistical process control
Advanced project management tools, methods, and applications
Certified in Lean and 6 Sigma proficiency to black belt level (or equivalent)
Understanding of CAPEX investment process
Proven track record of process and program transformation
Ability to travel up to 50%
Preferred Qualifications
Deep subject matter expertise and Operational Machining experience
Passion for Lean continuous improvement and driving sustainable change
Continuous product and process development capability, along with tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Esprit.
Strategic thinker and an organized, agile implementer
Strong executive presence and communication skills
Prior experience with Skill acquisition/development and retention
Basic financial/Product cost Knowledge
Multi-machinery, automation, and tooling management manufacturing methods
Effective oral presentation Skills
Fluency in other languages a plus
