Role Summary:

The MRP Planner plans and schedules work orders for the Kalamazoo Manufacturing Hub, supporting Quick Response Centers and Kalamazoo shipments. The Planner collaborates with operations, sales, engineering, and supply chain to ensure that the orders, parts, assemblies, and testing plans align to meet customer deadlines.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Strategic daily review of MRP for new order releases, exceptions, and requisitions

  • Maintain a level load for production, scheduling demand according to fluid capacity, and optimizing shop resources to ensure that customer expectations and deadlines are met

  • Partner with production leadership to monitor and action jobs as they flow through operations, sharing ownership of the success of work order on-time delivery

  • Maintain accurate scheduling within the ERP system and communicate schedule changes to internal teams, ensuring a positive customer experience

  • Perform Root Cause Analysis for process delays, collaborating and initiating improvements

  • Review and edit routing and structuring for job-specific work orders as well as permanent changes to improve efficiency, cost, or execution

  • Recommend capacity modifications (overtime, resourcing, outsourcing, equipment, etc.) to production supervision by specific work centers on the manufacturing floor

  • Collaborate closely with Order Management team members to own and improve shared processes


  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent plus a minimum of 3 years of experience within Supply Chain Management, Materials planning, Production Planning, or related field

  • Strong computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office

  • Effective time management skill

  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills

  • Strong self-motivation, willingness to learn, and receptiveness to change

  • Value for and participation in continuous improvement activities

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • BS degree (4 yr) in Supply Chain, or Materials Management discipline

  • 5+ years on the job experience in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, or Production Planning, or a related field

  • APICS certification preferred

  • Experience with ERP Systems such as SAP and Oracle preferred
