As a direct report to the Director of Corporate Accounting, the Manager of Corporate Accounting is responsible for leading a team of 2 professional accountants to perform the accounting and reporting of complex accounting areas, the monthly GL close processes for areas of responsibility, as well as ensuring SOX control compliance. Specific responsibilities of the Corporate Accounting Manager include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities & Requirements:
Manage and review work of staff. Mentor, Champion. Complete mid-year and annual performance reviews. Drive department goals and objectives through execution of effective processes and communication with team and management.
Participate and support the monthly general ledger and financial reporting close processes.
Communicate with other functional areas and site locations, responding to voice messages, email, and etc. in the appropriate manner.
Review all staff member duties and work product, ensuring tasks are performed accurately, completely, and timely, in accordance with company policy.
Manage and review the preparation of the monthly mark-to-market journal entry for all Flowserve sites and its reconciliation to SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC), ensuring conformity to GAAP and Flowserve policies.
Manage, review and approve monthly journal entries (including top-side journals, if any), recurring journal entries, account reconciliations, supplemental data and other reporting including the maintenance of supporting documentation for all areas of responsibilities.
Complete tasks and interact as required with the internal and external audit teams.
Assist with the Quarterly Corporate Analytical Review as needed.
Provide financial support and ad hoc analysis to departmental and senior management.
Monitor and review Corporate Accounting documented policies and procedures, including spreadsheet controls, for SOX compliance and gaps. Follow-up, develop and remediate controls as needed.
Manage, review, and provide technical accounting support (subject matter expert) for share-based compensation, earnings per share, foreign currency matters, global pension, post-retirement and deferred compensation plans, including the Rabbi Trust.
Manage and assist with the Financial Reporting and FP&A functions with financial data and external financial statement disclosures for pension and post-retirement, AOCI, equity, including EPS calculations, share data and stock-based compensation.
Manage and review the preparation of schedules, analysis and explanations related to share-based compensation plans for the Tax Department.
Manage and communicate the budget and forecast implications related to share-based compensation expense and pension expense.
Ensure the Unclaimed Property is reviewed and confirmed prior to transfer or payment of funds to claimants or state jurisdictions.
Work with the third-party provider to ensure the preparation, submission and timely filing of Unclaimed Property reports as required in all jurisdictions where Flowserve does busines
Cross-train with peer managers and provide coverage as needed.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
Bachelors degree or international equivalent in Accounting required, MBA a plus
Possess a strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX controls.
Strong financial background with 5 - 7 years of progressive, relevant experience, including supervisor and/or manager experience
Possess a high degree of technical accounting knowledge and willing to learn new technical accounting subjects/guidance.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
Minimum 5 to 7 years professional accounting experience, some Big 4 public accounting preferred
Must be process and goal driven, customer oriented, results oriented, self-motivated
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of Oracle required and SAP or other ERP software preferred
Previous experience working with SAP Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC)
Experience with publicly-traded, global company plus
Excellent PC skills including Windows, Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Public Accounting experience a plus
Comfortable interfacing with operational and financial leadership
Ability to work overtime
