Role Summary:

Flowserve is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to ensure that production materials and parts are available to meet production schedules. This includes the procurement of raw materials, shop buyouts, manufacturing supplies and capital equipment necessary to support the operation. The senior buyer actively negotiates purchase agreements, monitors delivery schedules, handles returns and establishes vendor relationships. This position is AM to PM, at our air-conditioned, clean, well-organized facility in our Guelph Facility.

Responsibilities & Requirements: This position will have responsibility for the following:

  • Process purchasing documentation (RFQ's, purchase orders, continual improvement reports) in accordance with policies and procedures.

  • Review and report vendor performance quality, price, delivery and service (maintain vendor scorecards). Prepare inter-company memos and coordinate inter-company purchase requirements.

  • evaluate current vendors and source new vendors.

  • Review material problems with shop personnel and inspection.

  • Purchase of outside subcontract capabilities, capital equipment and supplies for all departments.

  • Initiate and coordinate engineering or product changes Initiate corrective actions between engineering, inspection and vendors to maintain adequate quality standards.

  • Advise customer service of required lead times for customer orders and quotations.

  • Obtain quotes and information for all special products and services as requested by pump engineering department.

  • This position reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

*Position Requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years relevant experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or job shop environment is required

  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (such as Oracle/SAP)

  • Able to read blueprints and understand tolerances / specifications

  • Knowledge of Import/Export Compliance

  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications.

  • Professional, clear, articulate speaking skills on the phone and in person.

  • Good writing skills and detail oriented

  • Must project a collaborative, result-oriented approach to completing day to day tasks.

  • Must be able to resolve conflict and deal diplomatically with vendors, managers and customers

  • Possess the ability to project a positive attitude in a fast paced, high pressure environment

  • Ability to stay calm in the face of deadlines and multiple demands.

  • Possess good organizational skills, be able to establish priorities and work with minimal supervision.

  • Some travel and overtime may be required.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Degree in Supply Chain management, business or related field is preferred.

  • Provide an uninterrupted flow of materials, supplies and services required to operate the organization.

  • Follow up and expedite materials as per required delivery dates. Price analysis for the purpose of justifying proposed changes.

  • Initiate or update negotiated contracts for both inventory items and services contract (i.e. lift truck services, cleaning services).

  • Arrange vendor visits/quality audits.

  • Negotiate prices, credit terms, discounts and delivery arrangements with suppliers

  • Prepare and process major asset requisitions.

  • Resolve invoicing/accounting discrepancies and approve for payment

  • Maintain SAP Information (Material Master, Vendor Information Records, etc.)

  • Source vendors to obtain information relative to product, price, quality and availability

  • Maintain up-to-date product identification listings and price lists.
