Role Summary:

You will be responsible for managing Flowserve’s trade compliance program across the EMA region, including providing trade compliance guidance to business partners, day-to-day execution of program requirements, as well as designing and deploying enhancements to the program. The position will report directly to the Sr. Counsel, Compliance Director – Global Trade and it will also work closely with the Sr. Counsel, Compliance Director – EMA & Regulatory.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Oversee Flowserve’s compliance with Trade Laws (Export & Import) and Regulations and handle major trade issues in the EMA region

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in the EMA region relating to product classifications, export licensing and documentation, import clearance, sanctions, tariffs, customs duties, auditing, free trade agreements, and other trade practice areas

  • Interact with government regulators/agencies (e.g., disclosures, reporting, negotiations, audits) and service providers such as customs brokers

  • Manage and support site-level Trade Compliance Coordinators in EMA

  • Support functional groups (Supply Chain, Commercial Operations, Engineering, IT, etc.) on projects involving EMA trade compliance matters

  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of EMA trade metrics and compliance reports to allow measurement of program effectiveness

  • Conduct on-site and remote compliance audits in accordance with Trade Compliance Team Audit program

  • Monitor for changes in EMA regulatory trade requirements and develop and train on plans for compliance with any new or updated requirements

  • Provide in-person and web-based trade compliance training

  • Assist with development and implementation of trade compliance policies and procedures in EMA, including import and export related activities, product and technology classifications, sanctions protocols, product matrices, free trade agreements, tariffs, and customs regulations and audits

  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in the trade compliance program and engage in development and implementation of solutions and process efficiencies

  • Support regional/global trade compliance projects/initiatives as required, including SAP GTS implementation

  • Actively support the Integrity & Compliance Team with key projects/initiatives as required

  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Detailed understanding and experience of EU export controls and sanctions (experience in U.S. and other export controls/regulations is a plus)

  • Advanced knowledge of customs/import regulations including tariff classification, origin, valuation, preferential/free trade agreements, and experience with customs related processes, in the EMA region

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including ability to communicate complex information in a short, easy-to-understand format

  • Fluent in English; one other European language preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including a friendly and professional demeanor, cooperative partnership approach, and an ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment with people of many countries and cultures, and at all levels of the organization

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Power Point

  • Strong data analytics and PowerPoint skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint

  • Highly organized self-starter proficient at multi-tasking and managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

  • Ability to travel, primarily in the EMA region

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior export/import experience with manufactured/engineered products in a global organization preferred

  • Prior experience with SAP Global Trade Services (GTS), Securimate/Steele/Diligent, Integration Point systems preferred, but not mandatory
