Role Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to work in our Chesapeake Pumps Manufacturing facility. The Chesapeake plant is located in the Cavalier Industrial Park and hosts nearly 200 local Flowserve employees. This Project Manager role will manage and execute customer orders efficiently and timely from receipt to shipment, and will support pre-award and post-shipment activities, as necessary. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact responsible to customers for order execution.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Ensures order specifications are thoroughly reviewed, including contractual requirements, scope of supply, and delivery expectations. Ensures discrepancies between sales, the customer and order are resolved and mitigate impact throughout the order.

  • Works with colleagues throughout the Plant to ensure a successful project execution. Leads internal project status reviews. Creates and updates project plans and progress reports. Coordinates with other departments and vendors to ensure that schedule requirements are met.

  • Communicates effectively with sales, application engineering, planning, purchasing, and operations to ensure product ships as ordered and on-time.

  • Identifies potential obstacles, risks and resource constraints. Prepare recovery and contingency plans to meet budget and schedule targets

  • Manages communication with customers in a timely, professional and clear manner.

  • Manages changes to project scope, project schedule, and project costs.

  • Hosts and manages customers, inspectors and expeditors.

  • Manages documentation submittals to the customer. Monitors documentation status and expedites to responsible parties


  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 3+ years of Project Management experience

  • Must be able to manage multiple projects, including competing priorities and tight deadlines.

  • Must be able to work independently, take initiative and show a high sense of urgency in team-oriented environment.

  • Embrace Continuous Improvement

  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office; MS Project preferred)

  • Required travel is minimal, but should be able to travel, as needed.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial engineered product environment - rotating equipment experience

  • PMP Certification

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, writing and organizational skills; technical aptitude and attention to detail
