We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Embedded Software and Simulation R&D Senior Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to our mission to create extraordinary flow control solutions to make the world better for everyone.

Position Description:

Be part of the mechatronics technology platform team, responsible in converting complex and innovative mechatronic and digital solution ideas to proof-of-concept developing and product development supporting activities. Active on-site collaboration with globally distributed development teams, customers and partners. Technical project drives of topics relating to software development (understand product application, architecture, embedded software design, implementation and application concepts) and control technology (control, regulation, simulation). The mechatronics technology platform team is placed in the I&T innovation organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Apply and expand the in-depth technical knowledge and expertise in complex projects that require mechatronics and digital solutions and apply technical knowledge and principles to develop innovative solutions.

  • Expand knowledge by attending trade fairs, visiting possible technology partners and visiting Flowserve teams around the world

  • Analyze state-of-the-art technologies to apply for the possible solution

  • Analyze existing mechatronic products and digital solutions to find optimization and enhancement potential

  • Consult and support other globally distributed development teams for mechatronics and digital solution development projects

  • Be Responsible for proof of concepts and proof of value technology projects

Provide modern embedded software technology experience for innovative mechatronic products and digital solutions

  • Design embedded software architectures and modular concepts for embedded software

  • Design enterprise data models, operating concepts and visualization concepts for mechatronics products and IoT solutions

  • Develop future proof and cyber secure embedded software

  • Use modular microcontroller hardware abstraction layer technology for the firmware development

  • Evaluate modern software technology (e.g. using of AI in industrial products)

Apply modern control and simulation technologies.

  • Develop with simulation tool (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink)

  • Use evaluation and scripting software (e.g. Python)

  • Use technologies for rapid prototyping (e.g. hardware in the loop, code generation)

  • Use modern control technologies and algorithms

To support our electronics hardware development team

  • Understand the microcontroller and electronics hardware technology to optimize the firmware interfaces

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A university master’s degree in Mechatronics, Automation, Information Technology, Electronics or similar, with more than 4 years professional experience in mechatronics or electrical engineering is required.

  • Experience in technology and innovation, with strong interest in exploring advanced technology for potential commercialization.

  • Experience in developing and commercializing new products or solutions enabled by differentiating technologies and go-to-market strategies.

  • Experience in research and innovation activities, with design thinking experience considered as an asset.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with ability to collaborate with multiple functions across businesses.

  • Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment, work together with global distributed development teams (travel requirements: 20%)

  • Language Requirement: English Level B2 or better

  • Experience of modern software, data modelling and cyber secure architecture concepts

  • Experience with the design of modern control and application systems

  • Experience with embedded C/C++ programming (microcontroller, embedded systems)

  • Experience with modern microcontroller software technology and architecture

  • Experience with MATLAB / Simulink simulation tools and projects

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with Python and JavaScript

  • Experience with modern microcontroller hardware technology and architecture

  • Experience of drive and process control theories

  • Experience with modern field bus technologies and protocols

  • Experience with product cyber security

  • Experience of AI technology

  • Experience with the integration and the use of embedded hardware

  • Pneumatic, hydraulic and/or Industrial background or demonstrable knowledge.
