Basic Function:

The Product Engineer Packages is responsible for accelerating the development and implementation of standards and tools in order to provide a competitive advantage to the corporation and improve customer experience in the area of pump packages. This position will coordinate closely with the Engineering teams of Flowserve Pump Division to prioritize the work with the business objectives and strategic initiatives of the operations. In addition, this position will align with Marketing & Technology and Supply Chain to execute development programs for the pump packages.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

You will be involved in the following tasks:

  • Align with a culture based on customer focus, ethics and a strong commitment to continuous improvement and safety.

  • Foster cooperation between M&T, Global Engineering and Business Unit personnel with respect to the development of new standards and tools.

  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance through implementation of rigorous design control procedures and protocols.

  • Act as an effective change agent, driving adoption and long-term acceptance of target engineering transformations based on strategy, practices, procedures and systems.

  • Drive standardization of packages by championing of best practice processes, procedures, tools and infrastructure. Focus on Engineering Capability and Process Improvement and robust processes for the ongoing review, maintenance and revision management of standards.

  • Maintain broad mechanical engineering skills and knowledge of state-of-the-art technical and industry trends within the Design to Value team. Review of technical publications, participation in technical conferences, interfacing with external technical resources and participation in internal and external training opportunities.

  • When called upon for subject matter expertise, partner with Operations, Sales, Quality Assurance and other stakeholders as necessary to provide customer centric and highly responsive support to resolve package performance issues in the field.

You are our ideal colleague if you have…

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree.

  • Minimum of 3 years of rotating equipment industry experience. Alternative, experience in designing large complex mechanical systems with interconnection between sub-systems and parts

  • Proven experience with improvement projects, Green Belt certification is a plus

  • Hands on experience with all the components of a package (drivers, seal systems, couplings, gearbox, lube oil system, baseplate and piping)

  • Familiar with centrifugal pumps and instrumentation (instrument types and P&ID)

  • Knowledge of mechanical design including mechanics, materials, drawing and machining practices, and modern manufacturing techniques

  • Proficient in CAE skills including 3D modeling and drafting, preferential experience in SolidWorks and SMAP3D

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to apply technology to creatively handle problems and meet business and stakeholder needs

  • Demonstrated ability to work with geographically dispersed teams with culturally diverse membershipWillingness to travel from base to Flowserve, and other constituent site locations with travel requirements of up to 10%
