Role Summary:

The Product Engineer Packages is responsible for accelerating the development and implementation of standards and tools in order to provide a competitive advantage to the corporation and improve customer experience in the area of pump packages. This position will coordinate closely with the Engineering teams of Flowserve Pump Division to prioritize the work with the business objectives and strategic initiatives of the operations. In addition, this position will align with Marketing & Technology and Supply Chain to execute development programs for the pump packages.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • B.E./ B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical degree.

  • Minimum of 3 years of rotating equipment industry experience. Alternatively, experience in designing large complex mechanical systems with interconnection between sub-systems and parts

  • Proven experience with improvement projects, Green Belt certification is a plus

  • Familiar with centrifugal pumps and instrumentation (instrument types and P&ID)

  • Hands on experience with all the components of a package (drivers, seal systems, couplings, gearbox, lube oil system, baseplate and piping)

  • Knowledge of mechanical design including mechanics, materials, drawing and machining practices, and modern manufacturing techniques

  • Proficient in CAE skills including 3D modeling and drafting, preferential experience in SolidWorks and SMAP3D

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to apply technology to creatively handle problems and meet business and stakeholder needs

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English language with a demonstrated ability to compose concise reports and presentations

  • Proven ability to adapt to a changing organizational environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work with geographically dispersed teams with culturally diverse membership

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Align with a culture based on customer focus, ethics and a strong commitment to continuous improvement and safety.

  • Foster cooperation between M&T, Global Engineering and Business Unit personnel with respect to the development of new standards and tools.

  • Act as an effective change agent, driving adoption and long-term acceptance of target engineering transformations based on strategy, practices, procedures and systems.

  • Drive standardization of packages by championing of best practice processes, procedures, tools and infrastructure. Focus on Engineering Capability and Process Improvement and robust processes for the ongoing review, maintenance and revision management of standards.

  • Maintain broad mechanical engineering skills and knowledge of state-of-the-art technical and industry trends. Review of technical publications, interfacing with external technical resources and participation in training opportunities.

  • When called upon for subject matter expertise, partner with Operations, Sales, Quality Assurance and other stakeholders as necessary to provide customer centric and highly responsive support to resolve package performance issues in the field
