Role Summary:

In this position the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for stabilizing the current payroll processes (including integration of new HR system/Workday) in France by bringing in the relevant expertise and know-how in regard to controls, error-detection and potential automation or simplification of processes. He/she will be as well expected to support local and corporate projects with implementation of new systems, providers and the general objective to enhance the operating model with the current or future vendors. This position will be located in France and will work closely with the local French payroll team, mentored/supervised by the Senior Payroll Specialist locally while reporting to the EMA Payroll Supervisor.

Candidate must be able to communicate, partner and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Preferred Experience / Skills: The successful contributor in this role should demonstrate proficiency in the following:

  • Education

  • College degree in related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Functional Experience

  • Proven 5+ years’ of payroll experience in French payroll

  • Experience with vendor-managed payroll model

  • In depth and up-to-date knowledge of French payroll and T&A rules

  • Work experience at international company (should be able to use English in day-to-day communication)

  • Should be fluent in English and French both verbally and in writing

  • Project management experience is desired (small to medium sized projects)

  • Possess strong customer service focus and knowledge of proper customer relationship/customer service practices

  • Ability to deal with difficult customers (via all communication channels)

  • Country-specific professional requirements:

  • Completed French payroll qualification

  • Mastery of administrative techniques related to the preparation of pay slips

  • Up-to-date knowledge of social and labor legislation in terms of remuneration

  • Knowledge of the collective agreement of the Metallurgy would be a plus

  • Knowledge of accounting and social terminology

  • Knowledge of the role and functioning of institutions and social organizations

  • Knowledge of the DSN (nominative social declaration)

  • Mastery of statistical tools (tables, data extractions, etc.)

  • Other Skills

Responsibilities & Requirements: Areas of responsibility include:

  • Live payroll processing

  • Support local team with vendor-managed payroll (with extra focus on controls, checks and validation)

  • Manage communication with internal and external partners

  • Monitor and coordinate payroll processes to meet deadlines and to ensure accuracy of payroll at all times

  • Lead issue detection and resolution with payroll vendor and the local team(s)

  • Identify need for any process fixes or further controls

  • Global Payroll Model

  • Document end-to-end payroll processes

  • Analyze complex payroll processes and identify issues / roadblocks

  • Make suggestions for improvement, simplification or automation where applicable

  • Projects

  • Support any project initiatives including implementation of new software or vendor

  • Lead small to medium-sized projects with assistance of Payroll Supervisor to stabilize or enhance payroll processes
