Role Summary:

The Precision Assembler will be responsible for assembly job preparation and documentation. This position will also assemble a variety of equipment and tools and perform testing requirements. Additionally, the Precision Assembler will be responsible for disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and assembly during any repair process. This person will have access to the latest materials and tools in our facilities to meet these expectations and ensure the delivery of a high quality product to our customers.

Responsibilities and requirements:

  • Complete assemblies according to plans, instructions and work orders, performing tests when required.

  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of inspection equipment, its functions and uses to ensure that all parts and assemblies are within specifications.

  • Make sure all parts and components are clean before assembly and assemblies are completed correctly, following all assembly procedures.

  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal safety equipment.

  • Operate various precision measurement tools, i.e. micrometers, vernier and CMM (coordinate measuring machines), in a warehouse environment, as well as hand tools, i.e. hydraulic torque wrench and fire torch.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the assembly.

  • Have a keen eye for detail and a results-oriented approach.

  • Able to calculate basic mathematical functions, including calculating rates, proportions, and percentages, and convert one type of measurement to another.

  • Participate in CIP activities as required and comply with all Flowserve policies and procedures.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints and technical drawings, safety standards, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and communicate clearly with colleagues, supervisors and clients.

  • Display a customer service mindset for on-time deliveries and quality workmanship.

  • Basic computer skills to use/learn data entry systems and use Microsoft Office Package.

  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed on short notice.

  • Demonstrate behavior that promotes team building and continuous improvement.

  • Other functions that may be assigned.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Mechanical Technician or Mechanical Engineer

  • Possess at least 3 years of experience in repair processes and industrial machining in established production plants

  • Reading and interpretation of plans

  • Computer skills: intermediate level

  • Knowledge in dimensional analysis, metrology, machining processes and industrial manufacturing.

  • Disassembly, Repair & Assembly of centrifugal pumps.

  • Quality control and dispatch of components.

  • Ability to carry out centrifugal pump repair processes: mechanical assembly, inspection, evaluation and dimensional control of components.

  • Desirable class D driver's license (to drive a forklift)
