Role Summary:

The Product Specialist (Staff) is the primary technical point of contact for the customer. Customers are channel partners, Flowserve commercial team members (Sales Engineers or Application Engineers), representatives of other Flowserve business units, end users, or their representatives (i.e. Engineering Contractors and other third-party Consultants). As this is a customer-facing role, the right candidate will bring a strong combination of technical and communication skills and demonstrate an exceptional dedication to the customer experience. To solve customer problems and help generate sales opportunities, you will become a subject matter expert on pumping systems in general and Innomag features and benefits in particular. Most importantly, you will become intimately familiar with what matters most to end users. Internally you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of best practices. You will be the “voice of the customer” and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to consistently deliver on our commitments and create true surprise and delight for our customers.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Application engineering to ensure proper sizing, compatibility, and overall fit for purpose

  • Assist regional commercial teams with quoting work load particularly on opportunities that require special pricing, technical requirements, or fast turnaround.

  • Technical support including failure analysis, startup assistance, and general troubleshooting

  • Project management including documentation, testing requirements, and facilitating inspection events

  • Account management including contract pricing, dispute resolution, and relationship building

  • Market intelligence including analyzing proposal win rates and pipeline conversion rates, developing a good sense for market level price, tracking competitor activity and response, and coordinating sales incentive programs

  • Ensuring compliance to export regulations, product certifications (ATEX, CE, UL, FDA) and other programs and policies.

  • Training and promotion including trial programs, plant tours, product training, sales pitches, and customer visits

  • Order approval - Approve orders for release to Manufacturing and coordinate with planning on non-standard specs and delivery times.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years application engineering experience of industrial products required – centrifugal pumps or other fluid handling equipment preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Comfortable and effective pitching to small groups and adapting content and delivery to the audience

  • Engineering degree required
